We do mean to be a great university and a great Catholic university. We are open to all the great questions of our times. - Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C.
Notre Dame has always strived for excellent teaching, and the source of the University’s academic strength is its faculty. Professors at Notre Dame have won 44 fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities in the past 12 years, more than for any other university in the country.
Thanks to the gift of technology, you can join in the academic endeavor at Notre Dame. We invite you to better understand your faith through a program for theological study in a community of adult learners with STEP.
STEP (Satellite Theological Education Program) offers six-week online courses in which a community of adult participants from around the world engage one another in discussion about our Catholic tradition. The courses are written by faculty at the University and facilitated by trained moderators. STEP is a part of Notre Dame’s Institute for Church Life, which serves the University's larger mission of teaching, research, and service to society and to the Church.
