Prayer for the Baptism of the Lord
Almighty ever-living God,
when Christ your Son had been baptized in the River Jordan
and as the Holy Spirit descended upon him,
you solemnly declared him your beloved Son.
As he was anointed Priest, Prophet, and King,
so may we, your sons and daughters,
reborn of water and anointed with the Holy Spirit be
a priestly people who offer ourselves in worship to you,
a prophetic people who speak and live the truth in our daily lives,
and a kingly people who bear faithful witness
to your reign of truth and life,
of holiness and grace,
of justice, love, and peace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
