Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent
During the season of Lent, FaithND will provide meditations on this season of preparation through musical offerings from the many Notre Dame choirs and sacred music ensembles. Songs will be featured on Ash Wednesday, each Tuesday and Saturday of Lent, and every day of Holy Week through the Octave of Easter.
Notre Dame Magnificat Choir – The 40 dedicated members of the Magnificat Choir (formerly known as the Women’s Liturgical Choir) normally offer music for the 5 P.M. Saturday Vigil Mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, including the Masses following Notre Dame home football games (changes to Masses and liturgical music are currently in place due to the pandemic).
Coro Primavera de Nuestra Señora – When liturgical music is possible, Coro Primavera provides sacred music at the weekly Spanish Language Mass. Coro also regularly sings at various Sunday night dorm Masses, campus cultural events and at the annual Mass celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
What if, during Lent, instead of pursuing perfection, we pursued holiness? Perhaps we could accept our sinfulness and failings in a spirit of repentance and trust. Maybe we could more fully receive the grace of God in the person of his Son. Instead of holding on to our own strength, pride, or intelligence, we could hold fast to the mercy of the cross, our only hope. Maybe we would not feel the need to run away from the emptiness and self-centeredness of our hearts, but instead run with urgency to the arms of the Father. If we chose to pursue holiness, we could return home to the heart of God. This is the journey of Lenten repentance we are each called to follow, “today and forever.”

Aún sabiendo que he caído
Que de ti siempre había huido
(Hoy regreso) Hoy regreso arrepentido vuelvo a ti
Vuelvo a ti vuelvo a ti
Vuelvo a ti vuelvo a ti
Aún sabiendo que he caído
Que de ti siempre había huido
Hoy regresó arrepentido
Vuelvo a ti
vuelvo a ti
Vuelvo a ti
Vuelvo a ti
vuelvo a ti
English
Forgive me today (today and forever)
Today and forever (without looking at the lie)
Without looking at the lie, the emptiness of our lives
Our lack of love and charity
(Today, forgive me) today forgive me, today and forever
Still knowing that I have fallen
That I had always fled from you
(Today I return) Today I return, regretful, I return to you
I come back to you, I come back to you
I come back to you, I come back to you
(Today, Lord, I ask your forgiveness for my many sins)
Today forgive me, today and forever
(Without looking at the lie) without looking at the lie, the emptiness of our lives
Our lack of love and charity
Today, forgive me, today and forever
Still knowing that I have fallen
That I have always fled from you
Today I return, regretful
I come back to you
i come back to you
I come back to you
I come back to you
i come back to you
