St. Valentine,
As a priest who served persecuted Christians in Rome, you knew the strength that comes from love and you risked your life to unite couples in the Sacrament of Marriage. When you were arrested, you refused to renounce your faith, and were beaten and killed for your love of God.
As patron saint of those in love, we ask for your prayers, that our marriage may be a source of strength for us and for the world. May we imitate your faithfulness and resolve in loving each other and God, knowing, as you did, that true love calls us to self-sacrifice and new life in Jesus Christ.
Amen.
