Friday in the Octave of Easter
During the Octave of Easter, FaithND will continue to provide meditations for this joyful season through musical offerings from the many Notre Dame choirs and sacred music ensembles. Songs will be featured each day through the Second Sunday of Easter.
Notre Dame Magnificat Choir – The 40 dedicated members of the Magnificat Choir (formerly known as the Women’s Liturgical Choir) normally offer music for the 5 P.M. Saturday Vigil Mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, including the Masses following Notre Dame home football games (changes to Masses and liturgical music are currently in place due to the pandemic).
Today’s song references Jesus’ post resurrection appearance to his disciples and reminds us that his message to them was, “Peace be with you.” After his violent death, as he appears to his followers who are gripped by doubt and fear, Jesus preaches peace. The risen Christ not only transforms life after death, he transforms our lived experience on earth by giving us the lasting gift of his peace. This song reminds us that, “the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.” Let us be glad that we may offer the peace of Christ to one another… and to the world.
