Holy Saturday
Notre Dame Glee Club – The Notre Dame Glee Club is a 75-voice, all-male choral ensemble that first took the stage in 1915 and today annually hosts four campus concerts, sings during home football weekends, and participates in international and domestic tours.
Today we wait with Jesus in the cold, dark silence of the tomb. His sacrifice for our salvation has been accomplished and we already know that the Father has raised him up in his glorious victory over death. Yet, Holy Saturday still gives us an occasion each year to reflect on that time between cross and resurrection. We contemplate the mystery of his wondrous love that caused him to “bear the heavy cross” and “lay aside his crown.” Today, we wait with hope in the time between sorrow and triumph.
(Lyrics)
“What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul!
That caused the Lord of life to bear the heavy cross,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul.
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul!
That Christ should lay aside his crown, for my soul,
What wondrous love is this, O my soul.”
