God, our Creator, you are the author of true freedom and the source of all justice. You endowed us with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. From the beginning, the United States was established to secure liberty and justice for all under your providence.
On this Independence Day, we give you thanks for the freedoms we enjoy. We remember all of those who have lost their lives in the struggle to protect those freedoms and to secure them for others. May we always use our freedom to build a society committed to promoting the life, dignity, and rights of all people, especially the poor and vulnerable.
