Thursday in the Octave of Easter

Episode 24

Notre Dame Women’s Liturgical Choir – The 40 dedicated members of the Women’s Liturgical Choir offer music for the 5 P.M. Saturday Vigil Mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, including the Masses following Notre Dame home football games.

In Lent, the “Stabat Mater” brought us to the foot of the cross with the Blessed Mother in her time of great sorrow. Now, in this Easter season, we rejoice with Mary that, “He whom [she was] worthy to bear, has risen, as he said!” The title of the song reminds us that Mary is the “Queen of Heaven” and now lives in the eternal splendor of the Kingdom of God with her son in the glory of his resurrection. On the campus of Notre Dame, this is what we remember when we turn our eyes heavenward and see Mary on top of the dome. This is the truth we proclaim when we sing to Mary, “proudly in the heavens, gleam thy gold and blue.”
