Thursday in the Octave of Easter
During the Octave of Easter, FaithND will continue to provide meditations for this joyful season through musical offerings from the many Notre Dame choirs and sacred music ensembles. Songs will be featured each day through the Second Sunday of Easter.
Notre Dame Handbell Choir – The Handbell Choir consists of about two dozen undergraduate and graduate students and covers more than five full octaves. They regularly provide music in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on campus, in the South Bend community, and in parishes around the United States.
“And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all the flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” The motiff of the first chorus of Handel’s Messiah presents us with the triumphant reality of Christ’s resurrection. In this rendition of the classic piece, the ringing of handbells and the absence of lyrics draw us even deeper into the joyful yet ineffable mystery of the Easter season.
