Tuesday in the Octave of Easter
During the Octave of Easter, FaithND will continue to provide meditations for this joyful season through musical offerings from the many Notre Dame choirs and sacred music ensembles. Songs will be featured each day through the Second Sunday of Easter.
Notre Dame Magnificat Choir – The 40 dedicated members of the Magnificat Choir (formerly known as the Women’s Liturgical Choir) normally offer music for the 5 P.M. Saturday Vigil Mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, including the Masses following Notre Dame home football games (changes to Masses and liturgical music are currently in place due to the pandemic).
This selection from Mendelssohn’s “Surrexit Pastor Bonus” composition gives a lavish focus to the Alleluias of this musical celebration of Christ’s resurrection. Now that the Good Shepherd has arisen, he can shepherds us from life, through death, into new and everlasting life. Let us rejoice that our shepherd not only guides in every moment of our lives on earth, but will also lead us to the joy of heaven with the the Father. Alleluia!
