Wednesday in the Octave of Easter
During the Octave of Easter, FaithND will continue to provide meditations for this joyful season through musical offerings from the many Notre Dame choirs and sacred music ensembles. Songs will be featured each day through the Second Sunday of Easter.
Notre Dame Liturgical Choir – The University of Notre Dame Liturgical Choir is composed of approximately 70 undergraduate and graduate student singers and normally sings at the 10 A.M. Sunday Mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (changes to liturgical music are currently in place due to the pandemic).
Today, Wednesday in the Octave of Easter, is a day when the universal Church always reads the Emmaus narrative from the Gospel of Luke. In this story, two of Jesus’ disciples walk with him from Jerusalem to Emmaus, unaware that they are walking with the risen Lord. Today’s song invites us to meditate on our journey to God– our journey home. Our current journey through the global pandemic has been a long road, testing our faith at many points along the way. But, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, let us hope that every difficult journey has the potential to reveal to us the resurrection of Christ.
(Lyrics)
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
Tell me, where is the road
I can call my own
That I left, that I lost
So long ago
All these years I have wandered
Oh, when will I know
There’s a way, there’s a road
That will lead me home
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
After wind, after rain
When the dark is done
As I wake from a dream
In the gold of day
Through the air there’s a calling
From far away
There’s a voice I can hear
That will lead me home
