St. Victor

St. Victor was a catechumen—someone learning the faith in preparation for Baptism. He was captured in the Roman persecution of Christians and martyred around the year 300 in Portugal. His relics rest in the reliquary chapel in the Basilica.
In our journey through Lent towards Easter, St. Victor is a fitting example for the catechumens who recently received the rites of Christian initiation. Let us pray for his intercession to help them as they live out the gifts they received from their Baptism and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.
St. Victor, you died for the faith you were only just learning and beginning to practice—pray for us!
