All-powerful God of life, your Son experienced the depths of human suffering and remained full of faith and love. His resurrection gives life to the world. Look with compassion on those who experience the loss of good health. Grant them patience and wisdom, and ease all that brings them anxiety. Open them to the support …

Loving God, be near that part of my body or spirit that is in ill health. Allow the doctors, nurses, caregivers, loved ones and myself to trust in Your Presence. Lead and guide all with your wisdom and knowledge. Jesus came to be near the sick and is now near me. May I give Him …

Almighty ever-living God, when Christ your Son had been baptized in the River Jordan and as the Holy Spirit descended upon him, you solemnly declared him your beloved Son. As he was anointed Priest, Prophet, and King, so may we, your sons and daughters, reborn of water and anointed with the Holy Spirit be a …

God our Father, you are a faithful protector and watchful guardian. We ask for your providing care for our brothers and sisters who are suffering from the effects of natural disasters. Lord, our God, friend of the lowly, you gave your servant, Saint André Bessette, a great devotion to St. Joseph and a special commitment to the poor and afflicted. Through his intercession help us to follow his example of prayer and love and so come to share with him in your glory. We ask this …

God of love and justice, St. Paul proclaimed that “there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” As we celebrate your faithful disciple, Martin Luther King, Jr., may we be emboldened by your living Word and by his prophetic …

Dear Jesus, Thank you for giving us (name) to be part of our family. As we celebrate his/her birthday we ask you to always be with him/her as a friend and to guide him/her as he/she grows in the year ahead. (Each person can thank God for a special quality that the birthday person possesses.) …

Dear Lord, I feel so alone. My body, wracked with pain. The hurts of the flesh wound my heart. My spirit brims over with sorrows. My pain, which no one else can really understand, compels me to cry out to You in frustration, in anger, as I experience such powerlessness. Oh, God, how I hate …

Dear God, in the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you give us an example of how to live in our own families, both in times of crisis and during uneventful moments together. Like Joseph, may we hear you speak to us as we guide and protect our family. Like Mary, may we stand …

Almighty God, you approached Mary through the angel Gabriel to invite her to participate in the Incarnation of your Son, Jesus Christ. Dear God, We reflect upon the Eucharistic. Bread and wine become your body and blood. We, too, are taken, blessed, broken, and shared. You took us, God, and chose us to be your people—to be an example and to follow Jesus. You blessed us, God, gifted us with loving families, talents, and treasures beyond imagination. …

Lord, thank you for the gift of parents—they cared for us when we were too young to care for ourselves. Be with us as many of us must in turn care for our loved ones as they experience the challenges of an aging body. Please give these special caregivers the fortitude, compassion, and grace to …

Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your brilliance penetrate the darkness of my understanding. Take from me the double darkness in which I have been born—an obscurity of sin and ignorance. Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability …

“The Holy Spirit is the light and strength of my life, for which I am eternally grateful. My best daily prayer, apart from the Mass and breviary, continues to be simply, ‘Come, Holy Spirit.’ No better prayer, no better results: much light and much strength.” —Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C.

My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to possess you within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as being already there, and …
